Local centre celebrates 40 years of catering to the elderly

Casa Serena, an institution catering to the Italian community in SA, celebrates its 40th anniversary of dedicated service to the elderly.

Established in 1981, Casa Serena’s general manager, Joaquin Valverde, described it as a beacon of hope for individuals and families.

He said the legacy of Casa Serena began with the vision of its founders, a group of passionate Italian individuals and corporations who recognised the need for a culturally sensitive and inclusive care facility for elderly Italians.

As they commemorate four decades of service, Valverde said it was essential to reflect on its impact on the lives of those the institution serves.
