Getting attention from water services

Thank-you to a wonderful repair team.

Elizabeth Watson, Sunnyridge, writes:

During the night of August 6, someone tried to steal the water meter on the pavement outside our house.

They failed, and all that was achieved was a broken pipe and water gushing down the neighbour’s driveway.

We managed to switch off the council link, so as not to waste more of the precious water, which had already been running for a number of hours.

We were able to report the problem to the water service via email before 7am on August 7 and, by 9am, we had a reference number: 847635.

There had been no response by August 8, so at 3pm I phoned Clr Graham Gersbach and gave him the details.

At 5.45pm on August 8, a repair team arrived.

The reconnection and repair took some work because of long service parts, but the repair team didn’t waste time and each knew what was expected of them.

By 7pm the damp and cold repair team had managed to complete the repair.

I was shown how to switch off the water if necessary, though I will, hopefully, not have to do it again.

Please compliment the team on their courtesy, concern and good workmanship.

The only thing I wonder about is that, if I had not decided to approached Clr Gersbach for assistance prior to the long weekend, would we have been assisted, or left waterless for the whole weekend?

I still only have a temporary connection and am waiting for the installation of a new water meter.

Thank you to Clr Gersbach for taking the time to help us and, once again, thank you to the team.
