
Balfour Police managed to arrest three armed robbers hours after they robbed a tuck shop of airtime, cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of cash in Siyathemba on August 23.
According to Constable Virginia Mavuso (spokesperson of Balfour SAPS) the suspects (aged 25, 28 and 30 years) entered the Mzala Tuckshop and threatened the shop assistant with a knife. They assaulted their victim and at one stage held the knife to his throat.
They were disturbed by a customer who entered the shop and fled the scene. After thorough investigation, the three suspects were cornered in a house in Mashinini Street and arrested.
They appeared in Balfour Magistrate’s Court on August 25 and they were remanded in custody until September 26.
