Eskom and CMP lend a helping hand to Usizo Oluhle Disability Activity Centre

Eskom Camden Power Station Management in partnership with Coal Milling Projects (CMP) recently donated four sewing machines to Usizo Oluhle Disability Activity Centre.

Sinobuntu (ubuntu) is one of Eskom’s core values and CMP demonstrated their support by extending a helping hand to the disability centre.

The contribution by CMP indicates that improving the lives of people with disabilities is not just a government agenda, but private companies also have a role to play.

People with disabilities generally have poorer health, lower education achievements, fewer economic opportunities and higher poverty rates than those without disabilities.

This is largely due to the lack of services available to them such as information and communications technology (ICT), justice or transportation and the many obstacles they face in their everyday lives.

These obstacles can take a variety of forms, including those relating to their physical environment, or resulting from legislation or policy, or societal attitudes or discrimination.

Camden Power Station and CMP hope that the donated sewing machines will help the centre in promoting and creating further skills for people with disabilities at Usizo Oluhle.
