Gugu Molefe from Chrissiesmeer is in need of an electronic wheelchair
The 23-year-old from Chrissiesmeer was born with Acromesomelic dysplasia, an extremely rare, inherited, progressive skeletal disorder that results in a particular form of short stature known as short-limb dwarfism.
Ms Gugu Molefe is in desperate need of an electronic wheelchair.

The disorder is characterized by acromelia and mesomelia.
Mesomelia describes the shortening of the bones of the forearms and lower legs relative to the upper parts of those limbs.
Acromelia is the shortening of the bones of the hands and feet.
Thus, the short stature of affected individuals is the result of unusually short forearms and abnormal shortening of bones of the lower legs.
Gugu is currently using a manual wheelchair and is helped by friends to move around.
Having matriculated in 2015 at the Lake Chrissie Secondary School, Gugu is an orphan and has had to be self-sufficient after her parents died.
She lives with her sister and they depend on social grants to make it through the month.
Gugu hopes to one day further her tertiary education in radio broadcasting.
Even though she has led a difficult life with doctors not giving her any chance of growing past the infant stage, she has managed to lead a normal life, by her standards.
“Having an electronic wheelchair will provide me with independence as I can move around with no help from anyone,” she says.
