Food for Life feeds residents of Ermelo

'If we can help to eradicate hunger and malnutrition by providing free vegetarian meals to the disadvantaged and poverty-stricken people, we have served our purpose.'

ERMELO – Food for Life (FFL) took to the streets on October 9 and fed several underprivileged residents.

Food for Life has been feeding the community on a monthly basis for the past 20 years.

According to Mr Paddy Singh, the organiser of FFL Ermelo, this is the world’s largest vegan or vegetarian food relief programme, serving over a million plates of cooked meals a day.

FFL is funded mainly by member donations and corporate grants.

The local Indian community donates towards FFL Ermelo monthly.

“If we can help to eradicate hunger and malnutrition by providing free vegetarian meals to the disadvantaged and poverty-stricken people, we have served our purpose,” he concluded.

If residents are interested in contributing to FFL, they can contact Mr Singh on 081 395 6101.
