Carolina tuck shops face compliance crackdown

The operation in Silobela aimed to assess and ensure compliance in local, foreign-owned tuck shops.

CAROLINA – In a effort to ensure a safe and compliant environment during the festive season, the Carolina SAPS, in collaboration with some key stakeholders, conducted a Safer Festive Season Operation on November 28.

It involved the Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality (CALM), the Gert Sibande District Environmental Health Practitioners, and the CALM Fire Department, Traffic Department and labour inspectors.

The primary focus of the operation was to assess and ensure compliance within the local tuck shops, specifically targeting foreign national-owned businesses.

The team visited approximately 25 locations in Silobela to carry out inspections aimed at ensuring proper registration, safety standards and adherence to local regulations.
