Residential burglaries in Ermelo still highest reported crime

The Ermelo CPF says property-related crimes continue affecting residents despite an overall decrease in reported criminal activity.

ERMELO – Residential burglaries remained the most reported crime in the Ermelo policing area during April, despite an overall drop in crime compared with the same period last year.

According to Ermelo CPF chairman Jaco Kirk, crime decreased by 11.54% between April 1 and 30 compared with the previous year.

Crime percentages for that period:

Residential burglaries19.81%
Fraud-related8.7%
Assault cases with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH)7.25%
Rape cases2.42%
Murder cases1.93%
House robberies1.45%
