Licensing offices in Ermelo reopens after electricity is restored

The licensing offices is managed by the provincial Department of Community Safety, Security, and Liaison.

The Ermelo vehicle licensing office has reopened following the restoration of its electricity supply on March 14.

Power had been cut the previous day after the Msukaligwa Local Municipality disconnected it due to unpaid bills.

Municipal spokesperson Mandla Zwane confirmed that the provincial government had fallen behind on rent and service payments, which led to the disconnection.

The outage had caused all services at the licensing office to come to a halt. However, with electricity now restored, operations have resumed.

Despite the reopening, residents continue to express concerns about potential ongoing service disruptions, particularly given the lack of a backup generator for situations involving power outages.
