In an extreme testosterone-filled event Secunda again took the match 4-1.

Ermelo Arm Wrestling Club (The Underdogs) held a “Super Match” at JP’s Club in Camden Avenue last Thursday evening.

The Ermelo arm wrestlers took up the challenge from the guys from Secunda. Usually arm wrestling is done according to weight class; however, in a super match anyone may challenge anyone in any class.

This just makes the sport a little more interesting.

The sport version of arm wrestling is not like your average bar arm wrestling. The sport requires both upper body strength and specialised technique. JP from JP’s Pub sponsored the evening and the club thanks him for helping to promote the sport in Ermelo.

Ermelo contestants were Sean Duranty, Charles Mahery and Giles.

Secunda challengers were Ryno “Witblitz”, Francois and Bomberg.

During the main events of the evening, Francois and Charles took up the challenge and the score was 4-1 in favour of Secunda. In the next match it was Bomberg versus Giles. In an extreme testosterone-filled event Secunda again took the match 4-1.

The highlight match of the evening was Ryno “Witblits” versus Sean “Tiny” Duranty. Ryno is a national contender who represented South Africa overseas last year. This match was a nail- biting event that had all the spectators at the edge of their seats. The match referee and spotter even called for a review of the TMS before awarding points. The two contestants were equal throughout the match and it came down to the last point. After a tense match, it was eventually awarded to “Witblitz” at 3-2.

The Underdogs would like to thank all their sponsors and JP’s for supporting them and promoting the sport in Ermelo.
