Bongani one step closer
After going through a series of soccer trials, Bongani Mbuli from Thembisa, Ermelo made the cut.

After going through a series of soccer trials that saw Bongani Mbuli from Thembisa, Ermelo making the cut from more than 30 000 players, he has gone a step further to having his dream come true.
He captained the Nedbank Cup Ke Yona Team that played against Absa Premiership side Supersport United earlier this month where he was selected man of the match.
In an interview with the Highvelder before the big game, he said his one wish was to have his family at the stadium to watch him play the all important game, which would also be motivation for him to be at his best.
His grandmother, Ms Julia Deliwe Kuhlase (60), also wished to see him playing, as she last saw him kick a soccer ball when he was young.
To make the Kuhlase’s family dream come true, two local businessmen and a politician put their heads together to help the family realise their dream.
Mr Linda Sibeko of Shobane Transport, Ernest Ngwenya of Nesto Lounge and Pfunani Funerals as well as the newly elected Chief Whip of the Gert Sibande District Municipality, Mr Trevor Nkosi, made the dream come true.
Bongani’s grateful family were given an all-expenses-paid trip to Daveyton and back to support him.
After being named man of the match, Bongani was picked by Limpopo-based Baroka FC where he will be undergoing a month-long trial to decide whether or not he stays in the premiership side.
Speaking to the Highvelder before heading to Polokwane, he said he was excited that he is now a step closer to his going pro.
Mr Nkosi warned Bongani not to be side-tracked by unnecessary things and make sure he remains focused.
