Volleyball coach introduces sports to Wesselton children
His love for all types of sport urged him to start the team in his bid to take the youth of Wesselton off the streets.
Basketball and volleyball coach, Comfort Mavimbela, is shifting boundaries for young children of Qambekile in Wesselton by introducing them to the sports.
His love for all types of sport urged him to start the team in his bid to take the youth of Wesselton off the streets, away from crime and other temptations.
He has seen his fair share of trouble with their basketball and volleyball court vandalised and used as a toilet, which has forced him and his team to scrape off excrement every time they have to practice.
The change rooms near the court are in such a deplorable state that the female athletes have resorted to changing at home before practice.
Comfort has approached the municipality to revamp the place as it is municipal property, but he is still waiting on a response.
However, this has not deterred him from his goal, as his teams go from strength to strength with the volleyball team looking forward to taking part in an upcoming tournament hosted by the Department of Sports and Recreation.
The basketball side look forward to participating in trials in Middelburg for the games to take place in Durban later this year.
