GS College choir is national champion
The choir of GS College Ermelo (Gert Sibande) was crowned winners at the National College Sports Arts & Culture (COSACSA) competition held in Richards Bay recently.

The choir of GS College Ermelo (Gert Sibande) was crowned winners at the National College Sports Arts & Culture (COSACSA) competition held in Richards Bay recently.
The campus choir was established in 2014 under the leadership of choirmaster Madoda Nkosi.
Ermelo entered the COSACSA inter-campus competition held in Witbank in the beginning of June.
The competition offers different categories that include, among others, Gumboot, Hip Hop and Pantsula dancing, dramatised and unprepared poetry, solo and duet singing and choral singing.
After winning this round, the Ermelo campus choir represented the GS region at the provincials.
Another win assured them a place at the national championship where they won their division with an African mixed piece.
Ermelo campus choir thanked Afriplan, ETS Towing and Chilltec for their contributions and expressed gratitude towards Ms Julia Bal, Ms Silvja Breytenbach, the student representative council and conductor Mr Nkosi that helped them on their journey to becoming national champions.
