WESSELTON – In honour of Success Youth Club (SYC) founder, Percy Nkambule, who passed away in 2015, Nomkhosi and Lawrance Mbokani are determined to keep Khayelihle youngsters off the streets through soccer.
According to the couple, the club was established in 1992 by Nkambule who lived with a disability.
The Mbokani family firmly believes that young people in Khayelihle have talent, which is occasionally clouded by succumbing to peer pressure, which may have major consequences such as being affiliated with gangsterism.

“Young people may not always understand that every action has consequences. Percy Nkambule was always caring about making sure that children are adequately taken care of and assisted to attain their best potential. We want to pick up the bait where he left off,” Nomkhosi Mbokani said.
By holding soccer tournaments they hope to advance the club and attract more young people.
“SYC is not just about soccer; it also serves to inspire youth and deter them from committing crimes. Because we really believe that it takes a village to raise a child, we hope to include more mural activities in the future to accommodate all youngsters.”
She added they call on parents to support the club by ensuring that children are part of the frequent soccer tournaments hosted at the Khayelihle Sports Ground.
