More runners compete in Kralinbergh parkrun

Kelly Phillips from New Zealand joined in this week's parkrun and was grateful for the motivation she receied

A total of 55 runners participated in the 114th parkrun at Kralinbergh Estate on September 17.

Jaco de Wet who has completed eight parkruns so far, led the pack and finished the race in a time of 25:44.

He was followed by Johan Victor and now a member of the 50th club. He completed his run in a time of 28:00.

The female runners were led by Marnel van Niekerk in a time of 29:02, setting a new personal best.

The day became interesting when more runners joined in the race, including Colin Thomas (71) from Secunda and Kelly Phillips (42) from New Zealand.

Thomas is also a member of the Nedbank Running Club in Gauteng, a member of the 100th parkrun club and celebrated his 180th parkrun over the weekend. He completed his race in a time of 45:14.

As a runner who has been running for over 40 years, he described his experience as one he wouldn’t trade for anything.
