IRA HPC athletes Edna Maharaj and Lourika Klopper powered through Johannesburg’s gruelling Deadly Dozen challenge to claim an impressive second-place finish in their division.

IRA High Performance Centre (HPC) athletes Edna Maharaj and Lourika Klopper recently secured second place in the women’s doubles masters 45 to 49 division at the Deadly Dozen Challenge in Johannesburg.

Representing both the IRA HPC and Shalom MC, Maharaj and Klopper took on one of the toughest fitness challenges on the calendar.

The Deadly Dozen event combines 12 runs of 400m each, with 12 labour-intensive exercise stations, testing both the athletes’ physical strength and mental resilience.

Competing under the guidance of coach Natasha Klopper, the pair completed the demanding course in a time of 53:09, showcasing determination, endurance, and teamwork throughout the competition.

The duo maintained a strong pace throughout and delivered a consistent performance against tough opposition to secure their podium finish.

IRA HPC praised the athletes for their achievement and for proudly representing their training facility, their coach and their club at the event.
