Westville Girls’ High produces poetic wordsmith

AYANDA Mgoduka, a Grade 11 pupil at Westville Girls’ High School, has been chosen as the school’s SPAR Star of the Month.

She is the winner of the Poetry Africa KZN Schools’ Poetry 2014 competition run by the Centre for Creative Arts at UKZN.

She took second position in the Mary Johnstone Poetry Competition for 2014. This competition is open to all school pupils in KZN and was judged by KZN poet, Kobus Moolman.

Ayanda is also a keen writer and participant of performance poetry and has performed at SLAM Poetry events in 2013 and 2014 at Durban High School as well as at Westville Girls’ High School’s 50th birthday open day celebrations on 1 March.
