Pupils spread love through donation

Ten dogs were sterilised and treated recently after Hillcrest Primary School pupils made a donation to the Dr Mike Hardwich Foundation.

HILLCREST Primary School’s Grade 7 pupils once again donated R5 000 to the Dr Mike Hardwich Foundation. The money was raised at the annual Valentine’s Day cake sale, hosted by the pupils.

Melissa Schreiber, fundraising and marketing manager for the foundation, said, “This is the second year running that the pupils made a donation to the foundation. We are eternally grateful for the kindness and commitment that we have received from Hillcrest Primary School. We hope that many other children and schools would be inspired by the way these pupils found a way to help those who are often forgotten and cannot speak for themselves.”

Veterinary assistant, Eric Zungu, and Schreiber conducted a short presentation at the school recently to express their appreciation. They also showed the pupils the 10 dogs that they were able to sterilise and treat through their contributions. The dogs were all from the Embo area, situated close to Shongweni.
