Trial of man accused of murdering mother of his child set for July
Sikhumbuzo Zungu, who is in the dock for the murder of Babongile Nkonyeni, the mother of his child, is due back in court in July.
The trial of SIKHUMBUZO Zungu who is charged with the murder of the mother of his child, Babongile Nkonyeni, is expected to get underway on July 9.
The matter had experienced several delays at the Pinetown Regional Court, some due to Zungu having to secure legal representation.
Zungu appeared at the court on Wednesday (June 17), where he was informed that he is due back in the dock in July.

Nkonyeni’s family expressed frustration over the delays and said they hoped that the trial would commence soon.
It is alleged that Zungu murdered Nkonyeni on Sunday, October 26, at about 03:00 at a residence in Pinetown. Zungu was arrested two days later. Zungu faces an additional charge of theft because at the time of his arrest, he was allegedly found in possession of two cellphones belonging to Nkonyeni.
Late last year, Zungu was denied bail by the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court.
