Kloof taxi shelters get a vibrant makeover

The Fields Hill Shopping Centre taxi rank has received a fresh new look, thanks to The Kloof Project and local street artist Giffy Duminy. The once-drab shelters have been transformed into vibrant works of public art, showcasing Kloof's natural beauty.

COMMUTERS and passersby at the Fields Hill Shopping Centre taxi rank are in for a visual treat as the once-drab shelters have been transformed into vibrant works of public art, thanks to The Kloof Project and local street artist Giffy Duminy.

The new artwork is inspired by Kloof’s natural beauty, featuring iconic Kniphofia (Red Hot Poker) blooms and beloved local birdlife. The makeover is part of an ongoing initiative to beautify the area, one verge, mural, and public space at a time.

“We’re so grateful to our supporters for helping us bring colour and character to these everyday spaces,” said a representative from The Kloof Project, Kerry Harper.

One of the shelters before the transformation.

“Projects like these not only uplift the environment but also instil a sense of pride in our community.”

She added that residents are encouraged to get involved by donating, volunteering, or simply spreading the word.

“Every small act contributes to keeping Kloof colourful and welcoming for all.”

Sanelisiwe Tsinde

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
