Kearsney ends school sport on a high note

Kearsney College wrapped up their water polo season with intense matches against Clifton College. The U14A and U15A teams put on spectacular performances, showcasing their talent and resilience.

THE conclusion of the year’s sporting calendar at Kearsney College was marked with a series of high-intensity water polo matches against Clifton recently.

With year-end exams approaching, only A teams participated, delivering some spectacular performances which showcased the depth of talent within both schools.

The U14A clash ended in a dramatic draw, with Kearsney College leading 6-2 at half-time. Clifton College’s comeback showcased their resilience against a formidable Kearsney side that has dominated multiple tournaments this year.

Traditionally on the back foot against Clifton, the Kearsney U15A team turned the tide with a powerful performance. The match was neck-and-neck throughout, culminating in a thrilling 9-9 draw after Clifton equalised in the final moments of the game. Both teams displayed exceptional skill and composure under pressure.

The 1st team encounter kept spectators on edge from start to finish. Clifton surged ahead in the first quarter, leading 5-2. Kearsney narrowed the gap to 6-7 by half-time. The third quarter saw both teams trading goals, ending 9-10 in Clifton’s favour.

Kearsney, however, found another gear in the final quarter and outscored Clifton 5-3 to clinch a dramatic 14-13 victory.

Standout performers from Kearsney College included Max Mills (five goals and five assists), Oliver Ludwig (three goals) and Thomas Aylward (three goals).
