Help build a creche for Upper Highway children

MAD charity launches fundraising drive to build a much-needed creche and preschool for children in Bux Farm.

MAD, Making a Difference charity, is planning to build a much needed creche and preschool in Bux Farm, a village in the Upper Highway.

The charity founder, Heather Partner, said a site has been identified and the creche will be run by Hilda Chirambira.

Chirambira said she is delighted by the news as there is a great need for a creche and preschool in this area, for the benefit of parents and children.

According to Partner, the educators will be trained in the MAD preschool teacher training to deliver the best care and teaching.

The Summerveld residents said funds are being raised mainly by Richdens Spar, who have offered 0.5% of turnover of till slips put in the boxes provided in store.

Support the drive

“We are only left with one week, we urge shoppers to support this drive.”

The aim is to raise R40 000 which will fund bricks to build a school to accommodate up to 40 children.

“We will be physically building the school ourselves, with help from the community, and we have support from donors in Summerveld. Donations are always needed; toys, books, crayons,” pleaded Partner.

Anyone who can assist can WhatsApp Partner on 082 654 1240.

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
