Debating team wins league tournament

Aaron Padayachee, Mahir Somera, and Shivay Gunpath brought home the championship title, remaining undefeated throughout the Durban Coastal Debating League Tournament.

THE Star College Junior Debating Team of Aaron Padayachee, Mahir Somera, and Shivay Gunpath, recently emerged as undefeated champions in the Durban Coastal Debating League Tournament.

Their journey included wins over Westville Boys 2, St Mary’s DSG, Kloof High, Westville Boys 1, and Waterfall College in the finals.

Marketing manager Sara Hayden said this unbeaten record reflects the countless hours of rigorous practice and coaching invested by both learners and staff.

Jeanette Moodley, the debates co-ordinator, expressed her sincere gratitude to the dedicated coaching team, Rivani Harry, Lara Lambert, Basil Bezuidenhout and Nadine Pather, whose teamwork and commitment played a pivotal role in launching Star College’s debate team into league success.

“As we celebrate this achievement, we not only applaud the students’ prowess but also reaffirm our commitment to fostering leadership, critical thinking, and excellence in all our students.

“Congratulations to our champions, Aaron, Mahir, Shivay, and the entire team; your hard work and perseverance have truly paid off,” said Moodley.
