Treat mum to musical day out

Tickets on sale now.

SOUTH Africa’s leading artists will share the stage with the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra at Kingsmead Cricket ground for a special Mother’s Day concert on Sunday 11 May.

Leading RnB singer, Loyisa Bala, is just one of the attractions, delighting the audience with Maybe and I want you. Also in action will be Toya Delazy with her sultry jazz, electro, hop-pop combinations singing Pump it on and Love is in the Air. Natalie Rungan, featuring her jazz and RnB sounds, will mesmerize the audience with I’ve got you under my Skin and Somewhere out there. Melanie Lowe will sing I’ll be gone, Sweetest Rhymes and My Immortal. Standard Bank’s Young Artist of the Year, baritone Njabulo Madlala, will also take the stage.

It’s not often that you will hear these stars accompanied by a 70-piece live orchestra.

Chief executive and artistic director of the KZNPO, Bongani Tembe, said mothers are the bedrock of society. “We are presenting this concert to recognise all mothers in eThekwini and to create an opportunity for their families to spoil them on their special day,” he said.

The concert starts at 3pm and gates will open at 1pm, allowing you to find your spot and enjoy your picnic before the music begins. Seating is available on the north stand, the Q and R benches, the north-west grass bank as well as on the cricket field. Entrance is through the north turnstiles. Take along your own delicious picnic, rugs, deck chairs and spend a happy, relaxing afternoon soaking up magnificent entertainment.

Being a sports complex no glass is allowed on the premises. Beer, wine and soft drinks will be available for purchase at the stadium. Also no braais or umbrellas are allowed.

Tickets, which cost R140 for adults and R50 for children aged between eight and 12, are available from Ticketpros. Children under eight years can enter free. Go to info@ticketpros or phone 0861 008 277. You can also book and collect your tickets from any PostNet outlet.
