Heels over Head to perform in Durban and Cato Ridge
Heels over Head will perform in Durban and Cato Ridge in October.
Heels over Head, a combination of smooth jazz, contemporary African musical phrases, evocative popular African standards, dance inducing rhythms and happy melodic vocals will perform in Durban and Cato Ridge.
Thulile Zama and Nomkhosi Mazibuko on vocals will be joined by Mandy Cobbing on keyboard and Rebekah Pillay on drums and guitarist, Chillie Stent.
With their particular brand of dressed to kill, they combine glamour and warmth with a hint of seduction. Their history includes scooping the Yamaha Young Talent Award in 2010 and a South African Music Award nomination for their debut album Could it Be? Their latest offering, Sondela, is a collaboration with many local talents.
Opening up for Heels over Head at KZNSA Gallery will be M.O.E, an acronym for Music Over Everything. This female duo consists of musicians and best friends, pop vocalist Tsholofelo Mapisa and classical pianist Lee-Ann De Vries. They have been largely influenced by Jazz, Hip Hop, Folk/Indie and the Alternative/Urban R&B scene, local and abroad.
The event in Cato Ridge is supported by Concerts SA and produced by iSupport Music Business. As part of this project the band will also be performing at Mdepha High School in Cato Ridge on Thursday, 2 October.
Concerts SA is a joint South African/Norwegian initiative that aims to stimulate live music in South Africa by finding and implementing ways to create regular, sustainable performance platforms. It also aims to develop an interest in and appreciation of live music by showcasing music performances and conducting workshops at schools.
