Christopher Duigan plays tribute to Chopin
Christopher Duigan plays music from the Polish-born poet of the piano, Frederic Chopin.
MUSIC Revival presents The Music of Chopin, the second Kloof Classic concert for the year. Kloof Classics are presented on the last Thursday of each month at St Agnes’ Church in Kloof.
Christopher Duigan will play music from the Polish-born poet of the piano, Frederic Chopin. This selection includes many of the composer’s most celebrated compositions, including ‘The Raindrop Prelude’, ‘Revolutionary Étude’ and ‘Black Key Études, ‘Grande Valse Brilliante in E-flat’, ‘Minute Waltz’ and ‘Heroic Polonaise in A-flat Op 53′.
Duigan, regarded as one of South Africa’s leading concert pianists and a Steinway Artist, has performed much of Chopin’s repertoire in numerous concert performances and developed an affinity with the composer’s unique pianistic style. He was invited to play two programmes of music by Chopin in four performances at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown in 2010, on the 200th anniversary of the composer’s birth.
The Music of Chopin with Christopher Duigan (piano) is set for Thursday, 26 February at 7.30pm at the St Agnes’ Church, Abelia Road in Kloof.
Tickets are R100 each which includes refreshments. Booking is preferred. Call St Agnes Church on 031 764 2037 or email booking@musicrevival.co.za.
