Photographer talks about close encounters with world leaders

HILLCREST Camera Club will provide Upper Highway residents a unique opportunity to hear local photographer and author, Matthew Willman, speak about his latest, and certainly entertaining, book project.

Vanessa Cracknell, chairman of the Hillcrest Camera Club said, “Whether you are a photography enthusiast or proud South African, you are sure to be entertained by Matthew’s talk. So we invite everyone to this free event.”
Matthew Willman is a photographer, storyteller, documentarian and unconventional adventurer. His ambition, as a young photographer, to shake the hand of Nelson Mandela lead him on a journey few could have imagined.

His work for the Nelson Mandela Foundation afforded Willman the privilege of meeting and interacting with many great leaders, musicians and artists, as well as those on the periphery of society.

His latest book, Tripping Over Presidents, tells the remarkable true story of a young man facing the challenges of making a photographic career for himself while in the presence of some of South Africa’s, and the world’s great leaders.
Matthew will tell his story and share some of his experiences at the Hillcrest Camera Club situated at the at the Hillcrest Sports Club on Tuesday, 6 March at 7pm. Entrance is free.
