Mariannhill, gear up for double concertos

Soloists, Ralitza Macheva, Refiloe Olifant and Margrit Deppe, will be performing at the Church of the Monastery, Mariannhill.

DOUBLE concertos by the great composers Bach and Telemann feature in Baroque 2000’s Sunday April 8 concert at the Church of the Monastery, Mariannhill at 3pm.

The soloists are Ralitza Macheva and Refiloe Olifant, violins, who will perform the Telemann, and Margrit Deppe, oboe who with Macheva, will take centre stage for the Bach.

She is also the soloist in Albinoni’s oboe concerto in D minor.

The other works are Alessandro Scarlatti’s concerto grosso in F, and the trio sonata no 5 by Nicola Porpora, among whose composition pupils was an admiring Joseph Haydn.

Tickets are R150 at the door; parking is free and secure.

The monastery tea garden will be open with specials for concert goers.
