Alpine Ridge looks promising

Trainer Alyson Wright is having a good season and looks to have a decent filly in Alpine Ridge and this combination should prove hard to oppose in Race 9, a FM 73 divided handicap over 1400m on the turf at Greyville tonight.

This Go Deputy filly won well on her debut over Scottsville 1200m in November beating Roy’s Gold by 1.25 lengths at odds of 20-1. That price indicates she was unfancied she may have nice improvement to come.

Her sixth-place finish behind Littleblacknumber, beaten 2.45 lengths, may not look much on paper but it was actually a good run. Alpine Ridge was doing her best work late and Littleblacknumber is a decent enough filly.

Jockey Athandiwe Mgudlwa was aboard the filly for both runs and he should be able to keep her in touch from pole position draw. The step up in trip is sure to suit Alpine Ridge.

Royalsecuritybaby has very good recent form but it has all been on Polytrack and her turf form was not so good.

Time Marches has only run on the Polytrack but has won two of her four starts to date. A wide draw though is not in her favour.

Brave And Bold and Trick are lightly raced and could be better than rated.
