#Elections2024: Kenmare voters make their mark
Great turnout for the 2024 elections at Laerskool Kenmare voting station.
It was a peaceful day at the Laerskool Kenmare voting station yesterday, May 29, with many voters eager to leave their mark.
The Krugersdorp News visited the station and according to ward councillor Jaco Holtzhausen, there were about 2 500 voters registered at this station, where they expected about 2 000 voters to show. He added there were originally two voting booths only yet the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) decided to bring in six more.

“It was extremely organised, where we had two rows split into alphabetical order between A-L and M-Z. This helped the line move swiftly and fast,” Holtzhausen said.
There were also police on site, just in case some drama broke out. The party agents were also very helpful and ensured the elderly and physically disabled persons were assisted.

“When the counting process starts, the building will be sealed and the sealed ballot boxes will be opened. The IEC will then count the ballots, with the supervision of the party agents in this area,” PR ward councillor, Lourens Gouws added.

“It was very awesome and easy to vote today, but there were too many faces on the ballot papers,” Lucas Mathebula laughingly said.
Former Springbok rugby player, Dr Jannie du Plessis, also voted at this station and said that everything was well organised and that people took the day very seriously.

“It was a smooth process and very organised. I think my vote made a difference,” added Happy Masondo.

Elizabeth Hansen concluded that she went for a CT scan on the day but she was so dedicated to making her mark that even her doctor brought her to the voting station.
