Plasie cricket runner-up at Stanford T20

Merensky Agricultural Academy’s first cricket team participated in Stanford Lake College's T20 friendly tournament from 27 to 29 October.

The Plasie boys played three matches and Merensky advanced to the final against Pietersburg High School (PHS), which unfortunately had to be cancelled due to rain. Because PHS defeated the Plasies in the group match, they were crowned as the winner and Merensky as the runner-up. Merensky’s team was up against PHS in their first group match. The Pieties batted first and scored 183/4 in the allotted 20 overs.

Merensky replied with 98/10 in 20 innings, which gave the Pieties an 85-run victory. Xander Schoeman took two wickets for 36 runs in four innings and Toper Elphinstone took two wickets for a single run in his one innings. Luka Heinlein scored 27 runs from 24 balls. The Plasies then played against the hosts, Stanford Lake College. Batting first, Merensky scored 154/8 in 20 innings. SLC were all out for only 99 runs in 19 innings, which meant a match win for the Plasies by 55 runs.
