Fashion designer Henry Holland thinks street style bloggers and models are "the new rock and roll stars".

Henry Holland thinks street style bloggers are “the new rock and roll stars”. The British fashion designer says using “real people” in fashion has helped the public to relate more to the industry.

The 30-year-old star exclusively told BANG Showbiz: “In the last couple of years the fashion industry has exploded, it’s become the new rock and roll, the street style stars are the new rock stars.

“It’s not just a small niche market anymore; it’s a massive main stream market.” Henry joined a host of big names, including actress Jaime Winstone, presenter Caroline Flack and The Kills musician Jamie Hince at the screening of celebrity stylist Katy England’s directorial debut ‘Made In England’.

It focuses on British youth culture and ‘style tribes’ and marks Vauxhall Motors’ 110-year anniversary, part of a series which sees the brand team up with illustrious figures from art, fashion and design.

The short film also features Katy’s husband Bobby Gillespie, lead singer of Primal Scream, who joined her at the screening at The Kings Head, east London.

Henry said: “Katy applying herself to film is amazing and it’s about time. I think with new technology we all have to move into new mediums and it’s very exciting that someone of such calibre is doing this.

“It’s amazing to work with your friends, especially if it’s a new project, to have people that you love and that you’re close to, it makes a difference.

“I was always really lucky to be able to work with my best friend Agyness [Deyn] when I first started.

“People can talk about nepotism but I don’t agree – it’s quite scary for Katy to move into a new medium, so the fact that she’s able to work with someone that she knows and loves is really important.

“It’s really exciting to work with moving images and look at fashion from a different perspective and challenge the photographers.”

Henry also explained he thinks humour epitomises British culture, adding: “It’s completely unique, of course everything I do is self-effacing and I have the ability to laugh at myself.”
