Kaya FM’s Skhumba slammed over ‘droopy breasts’ comments

'These females are showing droopy boobs that look like wet all-stars without shoe laces,' the comedian said.

Comedian and Kaya FM’s Skhumba Hlophe has found himself on the wrong side of the #FeesMustFall protestors and Twitter users for body-shaming Wits female protestors who chose to protest half-naked.

Taking to Instagram in a video that has since been deleted, Hlophe slammed the female protestors for exposing their droopy breasts

“When a boob shows, it should like a tennis [sic]. These females are showing droopy boobs that look like wet all-stars without shoe laces. Others have big tummies with silver stripes,” he said.

He received a backlash from protesters, who started an online petition to have him removed from the station until he publicly apologises to the female protesters.

“Amidst the violence at Wits University, Sarah Mokwebo, Hlengiwe Patricia Ndlovu and Lerato Motaung stripped during the protest at the main campus saying they were tired of being brutalised. The three women‚ faced the police with their hands crossed over their heads in an effort to stop the violence,” the petition reads.

“By taking him off air until he publicly apologises, Kaya FM will be sending a firm signal to us all that the station does not endorse such views.”

In the wake of the uproar, Hlophe a posted another video apologising to the protestors, saying they misunderstood him.

“I’m Sorry to everyone that I’ve offended and I’d like my fans that would back me gir anything to not comment here…. no harm was meant on that video I respect women and again I’m really sorry from the bottom of my heart… I hope u find it in ur heart to forgive me…… Skhumba…. Ta,” reads the caption.

He shares that he had never apologised for anything in his life but felt the need to apologise to the female protestors because he did not mean to offend them.

He further affirms his support for the protests, saying fees must fall, one way or another.

“I hope we find a way forward from all this, I’m really sorry.”
