A manager at Arkansas Spur was arrested for assault in front of dining customers. The incident occurred on Sunday morning when police took him into custody and handcuffed him in front of curious diners at the restaurant.
Mpumalanga police spokesman Sgt Gerald Sedibe said the manager was arrested for common assault after another staff member had opened a case against him for allegedly assaulting him during a staff meeting.
Sedibe said the accused was released after he paid a R500 fine.
But when Nelspruit Post questioned Arkansas Spur manager Mr Herman Geldenhuys who was on duty when the arrest took place, he told media that the manager was wrongfully arrested by police and that it was a case of mistaken identity.
