Competitors had to complete laps with names like Baboons, Gully, Barriers Highway, Zoro, Monkey Climb and Grassy Stage and the route took riders into surrounding hills and mountains. Luckily the weather was favourable. It rained the day before the race so it was not too dusty or muddy.
