Modikwa cyclists show team spirit

Nine members of the Modikwa Cycle Club competed in the 20th annual Barberton XCM Mountain Bike Challenge on Saturday

Nine members of the Modikwa Cycle Club competed in the 20th annual Barberton XCM Mountain Bike Challenge on Saturday. By 07:45 the Modikwa cyclists had gathered at the 30km-race starting line.

Even though there were other distance races, the team decided to compete together, proving their devotion still existed.

Willem Montgomery, team coordinator, said the race was well planned with beautiful scenery and everyone was at their posts, from emergency units to traffic control.

“The hard training of the team paid off. They each completed the race in good times receiving a medal.

“Except for a few punctures, no injuries were reported and the team look forward to the next competition.”

The members of the club who participated were André Duminy, Derek Rieck, Hope Tyira, Johan Pretorius, Juanita Prins, Carine Duminy, Bev Rieck, Nicole Duminy and Helgaard Prins.
