IN PHOTOS: Sonop Interhigh 2026 – Records, qualifying times tumble as athletes soar at Lydenburg

Several records have already fallen and qualifying times posted by the athletes taking part today.

The action at the 2026 LSK Engineering Sonop Interhigh has already made for an exciting start to the day at Hoërskool Lydenburg.

Hosting the event for the first time, Lydenburg welcomed seven visiting schools to its track and field on February 21.

The participating schools, apart from the hosts, are Hoërskool Rob Ferreira, Hoërskool Bergvlam, Hoërskool Ermelo, Heidelberg Volkskool, Hoërskool Middelburg, Hoërskool Ben Viljoen and HTS Witbank.

Athletes are not only fighting for gold at this year’s Sonop Interhigh, but also aiming to qualify for the Athletics Mpumalanga (AMPU) team.
