Pupils are shining stars at athletics competition

Of the 13 athletes who participated, 10 qualified for their provincial colours and will be representing Mpumalanga at the South African Christian School Sports Association National Athletics Championships.

BARBERTON – Athletes of Gateway Christian School took part in the regional athletics competition at the AJ Swanepoel Stadium in Ermelo on August 24.

They participated in 48 events and managed to bring home 31 medals. The results were as follows:
• Rebecca Joubert – three gold, one bronze and the victrix ludorum
• Menzi Nkosi – five gold and the victor ludorum
• Cherity Chitenje – one gold, two silver and one bronze
• Tiffany Irons – two silver
• Shaedlyn Bosman – one gold, one bronze
• Nadia Dlamini – two gold, two silver
• Alyona Cherednichenko – one bronze
• Karabo Makhanya – four gold
• Sihle Ndlovu – two gold
• u/14 and u/19 Relay Teams -two gold.

Of the 13 athletes who participated, 10 qualified for their provincial colours and will be representing Mpumalanga at the South African Christian School Sports Association National Athletics Championships that will be held in Pretoria at the Pilditch Stadium on September 13 and 14. They are Rebecca Joubert, Menzi Nkosi, Cherity Chitenje, Tiffany Irons, Shaedlyn Bosman, Nadia Dlamini, Karabo Makhanya, Sihle Ndlovu, Marco Fourie and Hannah Joubert.
