Town youth centre ladies celebrate Women’s Day

BARBERTON – The cheerful women of the Correctional Services Town Youth Centre celebrated Women’s Day last week at Phumula Lodge and used the opportunity as a team-building session.

From early morning the fires were burning in preparation for the braai, while everyone was chatting away at the tables next to the swimming pool.
Despite the fact that it was a warm day, the water was close to freezing. This did, however, not deter some of the more courageous ladies and, spurred on by the loud cheers of encouragement from their co-workers, a few of them braved the water.

The rest of the afternoon was spent lazing on the deck, enjoying the tasty braaivleis and salads and lots of socialising.
Bernadina Botha, communi-cations officer and PA of the head of the centre, said, “We would like to thank the head of the centre, Mr Mazibuko for giving us the opportunity to celebrate Women’s Day, the wonderful staff of Phumula Lodge for their hospitality, and women for their support. Without you ladies our event wouldn’t have been a success.

“Let’s keep this light burning, and lastly I want to say a big thank you to the organisers of the event, especially Sibongile Ngcongwane and Constance Gwebu. Thank you all for your time and dedication. You are a great team to work with.”
