KLCBT going bigger with awards

Entries for the KLCBT Annual Awards are open.

NELSPRUIT – The Kruger Lowveld Chamber of Business and Tourism (KLCBT) is planning to hang out more than ever during this year’s annual awards ceremony. Entries for the awards are now open.

“It is going to be bigger than ever,” said Ms Janitta Pieterse, the manager of the chamber. The event will also be the introduction to Emnotweni Sun’s new arena as it will be the first time it will be used for a corporate function . The awards ceremony is to be held on November 22.

“We have a long history with Emnotweni. We have always held the awards there, except for last year when it was being reconstructed. We always have the ceremony in October, but this year it is later for the arena to be ready,” she said.

The evening’s theme will be Las Vegas 1920 to fit the new casino. It aims to honour top achievers in the business, tourism and the community-service sectors.

There are three major categories. All businesses, within the field of general business (be it financial, commerce, industry, agriculture, medical, services, tourism or hospitality) may apply or be nominated in the General Awards Category. These are divided into large, medium and small enterprises

Specific Awards are given to hospitality, franchises, entrepreneurs, and environmental organisations. Under this category, the Community Service Award will be given to a non-governmental, non-political, non-profit organisation which focuses on the well-being, outreach and development of the community.

Nominations for personalities and leadership awards can only be forwarded by members of the management committees and the board of directors of the KLCBT. A distinction is made between business and tourism for the two personality awards.

The Leadership Award is not necessarily given every year. It is a unique and prestigious award that recognises leadership and outstanding service by an individual in the community.

Bookings for tables are open and these can be paid over a period of time. Ticket prices have not yet been confirmed. Numerous sponsorship opportunities are available from Pieterse. Contact her on 083-294-0906 or janitta@lcbt.co.za

Entries close on October 15. The entry form, general criteria and rules, and an invitation to participate will be available from the chamber’s website, www.lcbt.co.za from October.

In the meantime, the forms can be obtained from the KLCBT offices. Enquiries: 013-755-1988.
