KaNyamazane hosts Grade R Day

The learners performed a number of modern and traditional dances as well as gymnastic skills which were also created from the theme.

KANYAMAZANE – Hundreds of grade R learners from 21 schools in Ehlanzeni district participated in this year’s grade R sub-district academic day at Mgwenya circuit in KaNyamazane last week.

“The theme was My environment, My future, from which they formulated choral verses, arts and displays as well as dances. “The aim of this event is to help prepare them for a bigger school next year,” explained Ms Ethel Khoza the deputy chief education specialist for the foundation phase.

The learners performed a number of modern and traditional dances as well as gymnastic skills which were also created from the theme.

“Our judgment was based on the way they develop their gross mottor, confidence, creativity, skills, balance and coordination,” she added.

They all received certificates for participation and the top three schools received trophies.

Winners will proceed to the provincial level to be held on a day which is yet to be confirmed.
