Floral fantasy at 100-year old church

A fair display awaits visitors to the 100-year old St. Peter's Anglican Church in October 4 and 5.

SABIE -The annual flower fair hold special significance this year as part of the centenary celebrations of the Church, and the Lowveld community is invited to partake in this enjoyment of the displays, as well as the gardens now resplendent in its Spring colours.

The theme for this year’s flower arrangements is the disciple Peter. Any scripture related to Peter can be used as an inspiration for the arrangement.

This is not a competition, says Barbara Scooby, who helps organise this annual event, but an exhibition. There will be 18 flower arrangements to delight in this year.

Starting at 09:00, visitors pay R10 to enjoy the floral displays and a cup of tea with cake. The exhibition closes at 16:00.

A tea garden, stalls, quilt exhibition, wire work and pottery will also form part of the highlights of the day.

Scrooby says that the funds raised through the event will be utilised toward the upkeep of the Church buildings.
