No action yet against head of department

Mr Thulani Sibuyi was most recently arrested in Kempton Park for allegedly driving under the influence and impersonating a police officer.

NELSPRUIT – No action has yet been taken against the head of the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison despite him being arrested again.

Mr Thulani Sibuyi was arrested in Kempton Park in the early hours of Sunday morning for allegedly driving under the influence and impersonating a police officer. Lt Col Katlego Mogale, spokesman for the police in Gauteng, said Sibuyi was granted bail of R1 000 at the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

The HOD is also facing charges of alleged fraud and corruption. In August, he appeared in the Nelspruit Regional Court where he was released on bail of R50 000.

Mr Zibonele Mncwango, spokesman for the premier, said this morning that Sibuyi was given a letter from Mr David Mabuza yesterday. He would not disclose what questions the letter contained, saying only that they were awaiting his response before deciding on a course of action. “We expect his response today,” Mncwango said.
