Mototolo Workshop addresses TB issue

As part of supporting the surrounding communities, 21 Bophelong home-community base care givers from Ga-Mampuru and Ga-Phasha also formed part of the participants and were given the opportunity to ask questions.

On October 2 a TB workshop was conducted by the South African Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS at Mototolo platinum mine.

The objective was to provide information on TB, create awareness of its impact on workplaces and beyond as well as emphasise the roles that peer educators can play to mitigate the impact.

According to Colin Mojela, facility coordinator of Glencore, a workshop such as this plays a vital role in the community due to the fact that many people are exposed to the disease. “It serves as an encouragement to test for HIV, TB and various other diseases and we strive to engage with the community, because we are part of the community,” Mojela said.
