Riddle runs pink valve campaign

The funds from the sale of the pink valve caps will go to the fight against cancer.

NELSPRUIT – CANSA and those suffering from the debilitating illness, became the centre of attention at Hoërskool Bergvlam last week. Bridgestone joined hands with Supa Quick Nelspruit in what they labelled the Pink Valve Cap Cancer Drive. The aim of the drive is the sale of bright pink valve caps sold in packets of four to motorists at a mere R50.00 per set.

“The valve caps show your support for CANSA and the continuous fight to beat cancer,” explained Adrian Leahy, Business Development Manager at Supa Quick. “The caps were supplied by Bridgestone at a cost of R50.00 per set and we sell them at that price as well, which means we make no money out of the deal and we do this solely for the cause. All the money made through this project is paid directly to CANSA.”

Mathew Riddle, a Bergvlam scholar, took the initiative to drive the project at his school and during break on Thursday morning, he had setup shop in the middle of the school’s square. A number of his classmates showed their support by purchasing some of the merchandise while most were rather hesitant to put the bright pink caps on their bikes. By the end of the break however, 12 packets of valves were sold.

“All in all not a bad showing,” said Riddle. “Most of the guys did not budget for the valve caps so we were in competition with the school’s tuckshop it seems.” Riddle will continue to sell the caps in the days to come, those who are interested in supporting the project are welcome to contact Adrian Leahy on 082-726-3370.
