NELSPRUIT – The end-of-year matric exams are proceeding smoothly, according to the Mpumalanga Department of Education.
Mr Jasper Zwane, head of communication, says that no incidents have been reported so far. “The department is working around the clock to deliver an incident-free and credible examination, like the past three years. For this reason, we don’t anticipate any challenge which we can’t manage,” Zwane continued.
Exams started on October 28 and will continue until November 29. According to Zwane, 58 517 pupils are writing exams in the province. The results will be announced on January 7, 2014 and the department intends to qualitatively improve these from the current 71,9 per cent to 80 per cent. He said the department wants to thanks all the teachers, officials, pupils and parents who contribute to the smooth sailing of the exams. “We are also mindful that the church through its leadership continues to pray for this process to progress without any glitches,” Zwane concluded.
