After a good winter sports season where new ground was broken in many aspects, the players and teams at Uplands College were recognised for their contribution during the annual Awards Dinner. Boys Hockey
The hockey boys first team lead the way with a remarkable season which culminated in a painstaking defeat in a penalty shoot out in the final of the Noordvaal Tournament. Tristan Scholz walked away with the coveted player of the year award, Matthew Mullin was the most improved player and Dean Carlisle the Trophy for Sportsmanship and Endeavour.
Honours for Hockey were awarded to Dean Carlisle, Sean Cronje, Keagan du Preez, Cameron Jacobsz, Tristan Scholz and Joshua Weir
Colours were awarded to:
Matthew Mullin, Matthew Nepgen, Matthew Carlse, Zwelakhe Sacolo, Jan Jerling, Gareth Park, Thomas Barnett and Jia Nan Helena
Girls Hockey
The 1st Team Girls Hockey season showed fantastic improvement in the past years and the level of girl’s hockey in general has been fantastic. Honours for Hockey in 2013 were awarded to Shannay Allmark and Shannon Tilly
Colours were awarded to:
Kate Bentley, Kerri Harrison, Zuzu Silinda, Daniella Veldsman and Skye Warrener
Honours for Rugby were awarded to Sean Cronje, Jane Jerling and Luke Ryle and Colours were awarded Chris Adams, Alex Bezuidenhout, Ryan Brain and Tyrone van der Merwe.
Honours for Netball were awarded to Lauren Brokensha and Nastia Herbst and colours were awarded to Zuzu Silinda, Shannon Tod, Daniella Veldsman and Natasha Wilson.
