Food parcels handed out on Egg Day
Hazyview Herald hand out food parcels on World Egg Day
The world egg day was celebrated on Thursday, October 11. The egg producers of South Africa donated healthy food parcels to the less privileged in Mpumalanga. In Hazyview the Busy Bee Day Care located in Majika Sand River Trust were beneficiary of this generous donation.
This day care centre feeds 106 children daily. Mark Kinnear, group editor outside publications Lowveld Media, Mimmie Mthethwa , owner Busy Bee Day Care, and Maxie Vermeulen, volunteer spent the afternoon at the centre handing out the food parcels. Each parcel contained an egg sandwich a doughnut, a fruit and a fruit juice.
Scientific research has clearly demonstrated specific benefits of eggs during all stages of the life span, from the foetus, through childhood, adolescence and into old age. Eggs have shifted from a “health risk” to “health recommendation” as a valuable part of a healthy eating plan. Making eggs part of your healthy eating plan will result in many health benefits such as the building of muscle, developing strong bones & teeth, brain development, eye health, preventing birth defects and helping with weight loss.
