A night of music celebrates culture

Cultural evening at Numbi Primary

On Thursday, October 31 Numbi Primary’s hall was decorated with traditional art made by the learners to celebrate culture. Eleven of Nimbi’s learners who did exceptionally well in the Eisteddfod 2013 got the opportunity to brag with their poems.

Wysneusie pre-primary rock and rolled on the stage with colourful costumes and they were absolutely adorable. Minet Schmidt, an ex-pupil of Numbi Primary enchanted the audience with her beautiful voice. The Chayaza High School Choir, winners of SA choir 2013, also performed. To hear their powerful performance was an exceptional experience.

Rhythmical and cultural dancers really got the audience on their feet, but the show stopper of the evening was the brand new grand piano! Numbi had been saving to buy this spectacular instrument since 2000. Mrs Mariaan van Heerden had the guests in tears with her speech about the piano and what a big dream it was which has finally come true after 13 years. Professional pianists and musicians Merle Siviter, Susan van Welie and Stefan du Toit inaugurated the Grand Piano.
