Lydenburg High School ends year on high note

Sometimes it takes just one push in the right direction to achieve what needs to be. That’s why I speak for all of us when I say thank you Mr Loots for leading our school to victory!

It has been a spectacular year, we, the children of Hoërskool Lydenburg have stood together as a unit. We work as a team wherever we are, whether at the interhigh or at a normal rugby game. We work hard in all the fields, for instance, the national eisteddfod, the incredible Padlangs-dag and many more.

It was wonderful to see that so many of our teams in sport and culture have achieved so much, like our debate teams, where four of the eight teams advanced to the provincial debating and the awesome Minjon Black advanced to the provincial ATKV Public Speaking competition. And don’t even get me started on our cycling teams.

This year was not for the faint-hearted. Why, you ask. Well it takes guts to stand on a stage and perform or to be recorded on camera when you know that it will be shown to the whole country, or to run in front of a whole pavilion. It takes guts to be a Lyden, because you have no expectance of doing less than your best. I take my hat off to all the children of Hoërskool Lydenburg, because a great school can’t be great without its pupils.

To have a successful school we need successful teachers, mentors. That’s why our teachers where sent to a national competitions. We must thank them for being there for us when we need them. We sometimes do not remember and are thankful enough that they hold our futures in their hands.

Our teachers, as much as they are strict, have a humourous side, like the Lente-dag where they had to wear funky shoes and glasses. We have to be grateful to them for being the best of the best of the best.

We love this school for the originality of the teachers and the way they aspire to inspire. They are like our family and we need them, just as much as they need us.

Be the best, just because you can. You are not perfect but you can aspire to be perfect.

Sometimes it takes just one push in the right direction to achieve what needs to be. That’s why I speak for all of us when I say thank you Mr Loots for leading our school to victory!
